Just my opinion, if you buy a vehicle with a totally rotten chassis, if be wondering what else is suffering. Possibility of a money pit ahead!! When I was 18, I bought a 2A, chassis was reasonable but needed work. After a year or 2 I replaced the rear quarter, ie rear spring hangers and back. Still got him!!

If your 17 the insurance cost will far outweigh the cost of the vehicle plus repairs. If you can get insured!

Are you selling body parts
Just buy an already re-chassised on, preferably a plain Jane that's not someone else's frankenstein and do what you want with it
lol, my dad has always wanted me to get a defender as a first car as we both love them and have always had them in the family. My father is willing to give me £5,000 and i already have more than £5,000 that im willing to put towards getting one. Alot of saving up and working has gone into this decision so far and alot more to go! :)

This would have done yer...

That would indeed!! Looks amazing. Id rather get a 300tdi with a galvanised chassis than a td5 on a normal chassis and vice versa. Does that sound abour right?
It's completely up to you pal, personally don't know if I'd want another defender :D
But I'm old and like my creature comforts:p
If you're going to buy one then budget depending I'd rather have any engine with a galvanised chassis :D
I've got a 2a 88" in bits waiting for me get the chassis and bulkhead galved then put back together

Ive been brought up with Defenders, Diso 2's and Range Rover's. At the moment we have a disco 2, defender 110 and a brand new range rover sport so it only seems right that i get a defender 90 (plus i love them more than any of the modern rubbish). I get what you mean, a galvanised chassis seems a good way to go!

Everything else on a defender is pretty much cosmetic so if you can get one with the the chassis done then everything else is un-boltable

It helps if you can be friends with someone who is vat registered when doing this:)

I buy everything through the business and I save an absolute fortune not paying the vat:rolleyes:
Also helps if you're young, haven't got a house or kids or a missus:oops:
Failing that, a shed load of wonga....
