Can any one help?
I've got a 1990 defender 90 200 tdi I've been offered a galvanised chassis for a 90 but it's for a td5. Is it just the engine mounts that would need changing or is it more involved? Also fuel tank ?

fuel tank is at the rear but no reason with a little work you cant fit a tank at the side or have the rear tank

Engine/gearbox mounts.
Fuel tank is at the rear. But the few td5 chassis I have seen have had the mounts on the rear out rigger for the side mounted tank. Not sure about the 3 holes for the bracket at the front. But that would be easily sorted.
Radiator mounts are also different.

That's a good question top drive, i will check and check again I've no interest in anything dodgy,
If it's all ok how do I get the chassis number sorted out?,it's got to be completely legal for me

If it's a change in chassis then unless it's an like for like replacement with a brand new chassis then, legally you need to inform DVLA and have an SVA check carried out, you will then receive a Q registration.

No fooker ever does...

My chassis is good except for the rear crossmember and front outriggers, I was looking for another chassis to make into a rolling chassis then swap my body onto but I think I may strip and weld mine and get it galvanised, they do it local to me and I've been told they charge about £300 to do it. I don't want a Q plate or anything bogus.

Sorry i forgot its ok to run hooky unknown origin parts if your not using it on the road.

Sometimes lr owners just dont help em selves really.

Create a market an all that
