got some chassis paint this morning

think this is pretty decent stuff

am also waiting for a can spray trigger handle, that should make like easier

ready for when the weather warms up , lol

got to blast all the inside of the chassis out first then steam clean it, along with removing little sections of loose paint

the joys of owning a landy

but enjoying every minute of it

keeps me busy,

@gstuart I'm dinitrolling the D2 come warmer summer weather, how are you steam cleaning it? Are you getting it up on a ramp of any kind? And did ya get the stuff from Rejel in Bedford? :)

In case you haven't seen it :)

hi mate

have got a karcher jetwash and also a nilfisk steamer

am thinking of putting it up onto ramps, got some axle stands as well, so when i put the suspension into off road height will be safer if it drops

rejel automotive , yep just looked , in bedford

thks for the video , will have a look at that later

have been looking around at some garage lifts, but they won't allow any spraying

so was thinking , i've got a big enough plastic sheet to put into my drive, put the landy onto the sheet, drive it up onto ramps then clean is all off first

going to take my wheel arch liners out as well, so i can get rid of the mud etc that collects

know the stuff isn't cheap , but a far better option that a rusty chassis , as the chassis is solid , just got some surface rust marks and loose bits of paint

did hear about putting stove paint over the top , or hammerite as a top protection coat , don't know how true that is

if u ever wish to come my way ur more than welcome to borrow my steamer, can give u a hand as well

didn't realise i had to also put a base coat down

aaaaaahhhhhhh. more money , lol
You don't have to but I know if water gets between the metal and waxoyl the chassis will still rust so I've painted it first on the series I'm slowly doing up

or maybe this one, sorry for large writing copy and pasted the title in

DINITROL 3125 CAVITY WAX 2 x 500ml AEROSOL SPRAY CANS with 140mm Extension straw nozzles and 600mm Extension nozzle

Is the steamer the little hoover looking job or the big bucks pressure hotwash thing that I seem to think is what I need? I've got a very decent nilfisk pressure washer but these steam cleaners want 150 quid a day for hire!

yes the nilfisk is one of the smaller ones , didn't realise u needed one that big

only thing it would worry me using a steamer that big on mine with the huge amount of electronics

if i had the money i would get the body lifted off, is only 8 x bolts

got some quotes and there coming in at £500 to do the full treatment

Yeah it would be very easy to hand it over and get it done for you, with the professional cleaning and drying equipment etc. But I just can't fork out half a grand with all I'm spending elsewhere when 130 odd quid buys me a kit to suck it up and get messy and stressed out myself :D

same with me

would also prefer to do this myself, then i know 100 percent it's done right

as i will also spray behind the wheel arch plastic trims , won't take long to remove them

going to get a drain cleaning tube for the karcher, can then push it up inside the chassis and ensure all the drainage holes are cleaned out

also the can trigger handle just turned up , fits a treat on the can

will save my fingers, lol
