Hi all new into here normally just in the disco section. Anyway got a 95 V8 disco that plan is to rebuild, In the middle of removing the chassis which is mint. But always wanted a defender, is it possible to use the disco chassis to build up a defender from my chassis? Is it a lot of work? Thanks

Disco n defender chassis are diff sizes.

A disco chassis means the vehicle will always be registered as a disco. Irrespective of body.

There was a programme A 4x4 is born he used a Rangy chassis to bild a defender had a lot of cutting and welding for accommodation of the defender body. Not sure where he got the info for that from.

Yes is it possible -- as mentioned, Mark Evans did a Defender 100" hybrid built on a Range Rover Classic chassis (almost identical to Discovery chassis).

Google 'A 4x4 is Born', he shows you all the important parts of getting a Defender body to sit on the 100" chassis.

I've had a message about a disco chassis going on sale shortly, I am far from a landy guro but would it be possible to get a disco 100 chassis and then fabricate the 110 rear extention Crossmember to the rear of the disco chassis to make it accomodate a 110 defender full length body. I realise this will only possibly sort out the length of the chassis and the out riggers need changed but in theory would this workout ?????

why bother, if your going to make it a 110, why not get a 110 chassis, seems alot of work for me, most folk do the fender body to disco chassis for the 100" wheelbase.

OP just seen your location. I dunno if you're interested but if you know of SCB scrappy at newbridge industrial estate near Edinburgh there is an old disco chassis complete with fuel tank and springs etc... Already stripped down. It's solid as far as I can tell and would save you a lot of work I imagine. I think its one of the early ones as it looks very very similar to a fender chassis
