If I were to pay someone else to put a Galvanised Chassis on and front bulkhead... Who would you pick and how much would it cost ?

My main reason for not doing so previously was I wanted to and replace other parts along the way but I am tempted to just get these 2 bits done as a base.

It might be me, but I don't really get what you mean.
Are you looking for someone to get you to a rolling chassis, with the bulkhead on, and you take it from there?
Are you wanting this person to strip the axles etc off the original vehicle, prep them, paint them and fit to galv chassis.

If you were able and willing to get it to him, a chap who owns a garage here in N. Devon did exactly what you are describing on my (now sold) 1996 90 300 TDI Station Wagon. He knows Land Rovers inside out and charged me £30.00 per hour. Did a very good job too. Let me know if you want details.

Changing the chassis is major, add to that changing the bulkhead, then you have reached the ultimate restoration point. Never forget that there are loads of unseen problems e.g. fuel tank will be knackered when moved, and a whole host of other things such as new bushes, springs shocks pipes. Mine has just cost me £5.5k and the bulkhead hasn't been touched, my interior and body are a work in progress though I think it's an anti theft deterrent. There isn't a short cut or easy way of doing it!

I'm going to rebuild mine this winter & was hoping to do it for around £6k. Need a new bulkhead but not sure about the chassis yet. can imagine it would cost double if I was to pay someone to do it for me!!

Parts cost on a 110 chassis, galvanised, is about £2.5k or somthing, once youve paid delivery.

A bulkhead (200/300tdi) would probably be the best part of £1k to buy, off the shelf.

There are companies on ebay with fixed price listings for chassis swaps. I asked a garage about doing the bulkhead (parts supplied) and they reckoned it would be about £1k in labor, however, you will find people on this forum who reckon 2 people, 1 day.

Thanks chaps... Yeahh I want someone to do the lot... i.e drive in .... drive out.. I already have a brand spanking new bulkhead.
Ian how many hours ?

I would love to do it myself but I just don't have the storage and time to do it properly.

ER1C - pending your possible reply I went on this chap's website last night only to find that it has disappeared. I know that the garage he used was rented and the landlord was ripping him off - so the last I heard was that he was looking for another premises. I'm on the case as we speak and I'll come back to you with a definitive outcome.

I'd pay @aaronmorris do rebuild mine. Reading though his threads and looking at the pics he does a brilliant job.

Thanks chap :) Something that actually very nearly happened a couple of months ago, planned on doing one for a chap on here until a week before I was due to start I had a letter drop through the door reporting me for running a business, (again)
So that was the end of that, but all's well that ends well, I had a week off work and we did it at his house instead.

Hes around the corner from me, I think they lift the body remove the old slide the new under and fit the body back on. Pretty good but I think his waiting times are mega long at the minute.
