I knew it had a bit, but this seems excessive, unless its just me!!
altogether, its fine, however due to rear UJ issues, I have removed the rear prop running on front wheel drive only, the slack seems way excessive.
on a flat surface, handbrake on, with both shafts, it moves a couple of inch, so fine.
however with just the front, you move nearly a foot!.

Transferbox is ok, as is propshaft, the play seems to be front diff onwards with no prop on you can rotate the diff input by about 15 degrees (about 5mins on a clockface) , but with so many bits, how do I find which is causing the slack, or is it a case of replace bit by bit?

its a bitch to drive front wheel drive trying not to bang the transmission everytime you change gear.

So many variables mate. Alot of which can be solved fairly cheaply with a few tools and a workshop manual. Cheap and easy things first, change the UJ's and the drive flanges. Any really minor wear in the drive flange translates to massive movement by the time it reaches the edge of the tyre. After that have a look at resetting the backlash in you diff, i dunno how to do it personally, but it is responsible for slack in the transmission. If none of that makes it better then output gear on your t-box. Big circlip, big nut, oil seal etc and it will slide out. Bout 35 quid. Do all of it in one go and even if its nothing to do with it, you will get an improvement from all the eliminated wear and tear
