well i managed to take the motor to bits...turns out a wee bit of the shim on the gear wheel had snapped off and was jammed against the motor spindle. wired up the motor without the gear and its going great. New gear wheel ordered for a princely 7 quid ! View attachment 201452

I love that, being able to repair something by buying one component, even better when it's only £7

I was on the verge of buying a new motor, but curiosity got the better of me, along with a bit of perseverance. Quite satisfying, to find the problem. I suppose I should be a bit more confident!

The way I view things like that is it's already broken and I'm going to buy a new one anyway so I might s well give it a go.

Very true! New part comes tomorrow, will update re installation and any problems encountered along the way!

New gear installed in motor, re assembled, all well. Total cost 12 quid as i put in a new park switch as well. I found these vids very useful

And thanks for all the tips folks, much appreciated. off to play in the snow now !!
