MB I owned few years ago could have the mirrors programmed for auto fold on locking doors by dealer, never bothered.

Ok good to know. I was talking to a garage owner today and he mentioned they wouldnt fit my L series. That there was different mirrors from 99 to 03. Im pretty sure i have seen a topic somewhere where powerfold on a 99' wasnt a problem.

Today i have stripped the whole interior from the tail door to the center console. Need tools to get the original LR radio out before i can continue. This car is a pleasure to work on. Only the usual rusted lower seat torx bolt on both front seats and one rusted torx bolt on the lower B/C trim on the LH side.

I was kinda glad to see the carpet boot lid in the 2003 was in great condition. Since mine wasnt. Always wondered how they managed to break it. Well i found out today. I put my knee down on the lid when i was dismantling something and now i got two broken lids

Trim clips

MWC9134 - 30 pcs
EYC10008L - 20 pcs
RTC3745 - 10 pcs
BTR7025 -6 pcs
DRC5582 - 8 pcs

Powerfold mirrors needs more wires and those have own small ecu to mount in car.

Is that for the whole interior Winu?

Almost for pre-facelift 5dr. Those list have not include tailgate trim clips and headliner fixings

I have now taken most off the interior out. Took the whole door assemblys off, so havent taken the door panels off yet. The tailgate casing came off without breaking any plastic clips. The head lining also came out without breaking any clips and fittings.

I broke some plastic hinges on the passenger airbag lower finisher. But im not sure if i can use the "passenger airbag upper finisher" covering the airbag module in my 99'. The finisher is riveted to the airbag module and i dont wanna mess with airbags. The 2003 got the Siemens system and the 99' have Sagem. Does anybody know if the airbag modules can be swapped/are the same? I might end up to spray paint the old grey passenger airbag with black vinyl/rubber paint.

Im still working on getting the front carpet off to cut the wiring i need for electric rear windows(do i need to?), heated seats and window lift switches de-location. Had some ideas bout using this carpet in my car. It looks a little better. But you have to dismantle everything under the dash to get the carpet out. Im almost there, but i think i will just cut it for access and use my old carpet which is black.

Have also taken the power fold ECU out, but still need to take the wiring. Same for the speaker system. Are also looking into fitting a facelift centre console to get double DIN display.

This swap are starting to be a lot of work. I think getting it all back together will be more fun and now i pretty much know how to dismantle the 99' interior. That will save some time. Having Rave 3 meters away is good exercise.

Looks like mine on some level of mods. Wash and clean them good now., chceck your heater matrix for leaks, put new sleeves on electric harness.

Perfect time for that :D

Yes, but you are doing this like every other week. :D

I do get some water in the footwell sometimes. But im hoping its the sunroof that i also have to fix anyway. Its a lot of work just getting to the heater matrix and i suspect the 2003 heater matrix wont fit the 99'. Atleast there seems to be different partnumbers between them.

I have to do a lot of wiring so there will be new sleeves almost all througout. It will be nice to get things all those "quick fix wiring" done right. Im also gonna soundproof/insulate the cabin as you have done.

Im bidding on a facelift center console, with gear gator and heater panel. To see if its possible to fit in mine. I have to relocate the hazard light switch, rear window and sunroof switch somewhere else, but i think its possible. Well time will tell how the outcome of this will be.

I finally found out the other day where a horrible plastic rubbing sound came from. The mirror cheater panel was the source. That sound have bothered me since i got the car.

Water in footwell is heater matrix. You should do it now, if not. You will remove dash again. .03 matrix will fit if you use complete heater box.

Youre probably right. Just so much work to get to. If i can use the complete heater box. Do i have to re wire anything or is it plug and play?

Resistor pack need to be rewired , from 2001 is different than 98-00.
Also AC switches and HRW switch need it too, but you must done this anyway if you like to have black faces (or change the faces to old ones)

Thats very interesting about the heater unit. Is this what you did in yours? Do you have any details/schematics?

Rewiring the switches wont be a problem. I dont have AC on mine so thats 2 switches less to worry about.

Im also thinking about get the wiring for the heated windshield done. This is something i want eventually and will be problematic without taking everything apart again.

I tried to register on that site. Even with Google Translate it turned out to be hard. Anyway i have gone through Rave schematics for both models and i think this is something i can figure out. Thank you for giving me more work :D

I also took a look one the 04-06 heater which is identical just a different heater panel but same cables and so on.

I have now finally got the heater unit out. Almost finished to get all the wiring harnesses out. Now i only have to disassemble the exterior, engine and everything under before i wreck the car.

I bought this car for parts for myself, but i have almost been more busy selling parts to others. This interior swap is starting to make me money now :D

Also won a eBay auction for the facelift center console and a heater panel. 11£ was the total cost for both. Just too cheap so i offered the seller a 15£ extra. Only thing i need to get started now is all the new clips, double DIN Android and a facelift gear gator w/HDC switch. So i anyone have the gator/switch for sale and are willing to ship it to Norway. Im interested.

Edit: I also need facelift heated seat switches and heated front window switch.

Im not gonna change the headliner/roof lining because i have a sunroof on mine. It might be possible to cut the no-sunroof headliner to shapearound the sunroof and use existing trim. But i dont think im gonna bother with that. Seems like time consuming job all together.

Im quoting myself here. But i was totally wrong. The headlining was quite easy to remove. I have now decided to use the no sunroof head lining from the 03 in mine. When i saw the difference between them in daylight there was no doubt. So i have to cut a hole for the sunroof in this one.

It was supposed to be a fast and easy job. I never have the time to work on my Freelander. But its slowly progressing. Now my Defender Puma is arriving soon, so hopefully i still got some time for my FL. :D

Now the "only" thing i have left to replace is dashboard. But it takes some time to fit the 2006 double DIN console as it needs some custom mounts. Not a very difficult job i think, i know how to do it now. Hopefully i got some spare time soon. I also need to take everything i have replaced off again, but i had too many parts everywhere. So just had to fit them :)

This is my todo list:

Dashboard and 2006 Double DIN console.
Facelift passenger and rear door cards.
Facelift front and rear.
Fitting the lift kit i bought from SES88 sometime ago.
New rims & BIG tires.
Heated front window.
Fit a roof rack(Safety devices).
Winch and LED bar.

I have all the parts except roof rack(which might be hard to get. Might need to fabricate one.), heated front window, winch mount and LED bar.
