It looks as though the viscous coupling has gone  on my 1990 RR Classic , powered by a VM 2.5 turbo runing on vege oil.

Some suggest that all one needs to do is to relplace the viscous coupling while others say that is the viscous coupling has gone then it would be better to replace the entire transfer box.

If I decide to do the later can the transfer box be changed without using a ramp?

Happy New Year

Hi Mike,

I'm going to be changing the tran-box on my P38 hopefully in the next few weeks as the chain is slipping when I need to apply a bit of power. All I know is that to change the darn thing I will be having to either use a pit or jack her up on a lift.

The guy that is going to change mine says he is going to run the back wheels onto a pair of car ramps to gain extra space under the vehicle. I'll find out this week if it works. We are changing the complete transfer box

Hi Gus, I did this last week on my 1990 RR. It was a Pig of a job. Even using the pit I needed extra pair of hands to get it into position and lined up. But now it is running sweet.
