Ok guys, i have got as far as getting to the timng belt! woo!

I have put the 9.5m drill bit in the pump hole..

I got the woodruff key to TDC then climbed under the disco at the back and looked into the crank casing??.....

the line that i can see is not exactly in the middle.... I am going to buy a new aux belt now so i will also get a locking pin for that also, do i go with the woodruff key or do i go with the cam lock underneath... orrrrr is there a way i could get both of these bang on?

I havn't undone the belt tensioner yet.

I was lucky with the crank pulley.. i had ordered a pulley removal tool and it hasnt arrived so i gave it a bit yank with my 17 stone self and it came off!

any more advise guys would be appreciated.

Precision is the most important part of cambelt changes,so it's really important that you align the flywheel mark correctly, as well as the pump and mark on the casing with the mark on the camshaft pulley.

Ok so I lock the pump. I get the woodruff key to tdc and then when I remove the old belt I can then adjust the position of the bottom mark seperate to the woodruff key?

Yes, you get everything lined up before removing belt to make sure that the engine is not a full turn out on the top dead centre of No 1 piston.
set em all up then as you are fitting belt:)

it can be done by aligning mark on crank pulley to case like cam but pin is more accurate and safer, belt needs to be tight between cam and crank on the side opposite pump, start there and fit pegs or wooden /plastic wedges between belt and case to hold belt whilst you fit the belt on injection pump last, ensure with pump pulley you use the right tooth, its to easy to fit it and then have no adjustment on for the pump as its already at the end of the slotted bolt holes

okay, the pump is locked. the woodruff key is at TDC and the cam marker is aligned with the marker on the casing.

if i look underneath into the "wading plug" at theline on the flywheel it is out slightly from the middle of the wading plug (hole)..

Ive read that that mark on the flywheel shows true TDC when in the middle.

is this correct?

which one do i use, the woodruff key at tdc or climb under and use the line in the center of the hole ?

sorry to be a pain.

The flywheel mark:)

when i put a drillbit through the hole it was half way so i must of been looking at it wrong.

i cant get the threaded bar out, does this need to be replaced or can i use the exsisting bit?

i dont want to damage it you see.
