Started stripping it today. All suspension mounts, etc off. Just got to cut off the beam that's been welded onto the front for a front tow bar then get it off to the shotblasters for Monday afternoon.

Will have it back on my soil for Wednesday afternoon where it can then be taken to the galvanisers. Will then work out if I am going to paint it or leave it in pretty zinc colour and show it off :D

dont bother painting it mate, its a bit hit and miss getting the pain to stick to zinc longterm, and plus you should be proud of a galv chassis :)

Yup! It is staying in galv finish  Decision made today while putting up some scaffold to sit some landy bits on. It'll look good with my terrafirma stuff :D

Wow. I am interested watching this. How did u lift the body off and swop the chassis ? And how much for the galvanised process etc

I haven't removed the body yet! This is just going to be shotblasted today then hopefully galv'ing by the middle of next week

Removing the body will either be done at a mates garage with a ramp or worst case if he is busy, we've got a hiab on our lorry. Not the ideal solution but needs must.

Prices..... well..... errrr...... errrrr..... I FORGOT!...... CAN'T REMEMBER! Every time I think about it, I break into a cold sweat

Ha ha iknow. I am keeping close eye on your project. If it looks grand I will do mine the same and repair the rust parts of body while it is off the chassis Do take pics of body lifting off etc. My friend is in scaffolding business I thought maybe rig up summat like that to lift body up with pulley on each end lift say a foot or so and roll the chassis toward etc as my front bulkhead is bolted removable Mm

Dropped the chassis off at the shot blasters just a moment ago. Should be ready to collect tomorrow or Wednesday afternoon.

Booked with the galvanisers on Tuesday 20th so that'll give me a few days to re-position the engine mounts, and fettle :)

Bloody hell Matt, you have been busy:D I've only been offline for a few days!
Keep up the good work. it will be worth it.

Plan today is to get the 300tdi engine brackets welded on and the 200tdi ones cut off.

It is going for galv'ing tomorrow morning!!!

Hello :)

Seeing as I am planning an engine swap soon, which i am reasonably apprehensive about, please would you take some pictures of the stages of the bracket swap?? :)

Would appreciate it!

Thanks, sam

Old engine mount brackets removed (in front of new one in photo where it is all shiny). New ones welded in. Hopefully they'll be in the correct position. If not, the way they have been made allows a little adjustment :)

Being collected for galvanising tomorrow lunchtime :)

That chassis looks like a real Gem, did the shot blasting uncover any holes or weak parts to patch?

Nothing to speak of. I was really shocked when I turned up to collect it.

Only a little bit of pitting round the rear springs but barely a mark considering :D Can't wait to cut my old one into bits and weigh it in. That'll be the cash to buy some beer for the weekend and a cake for Brian
