Our 90 TD5 came with boost alloys but a tatty old steel spare with a punctured worn out tyre.
l've got a boost alloy with a serviceable tyre but it seems there are some sort of spacers on the carrier bolts when an alloy spare is fitted?
Without these the spare jams the rear wiper.
Do l need a new carrier, or are these spacers available?
They look like large thin hex nuts, about 8mm thick

I had the same problem with mt Td5 and the boost alloy on the rear door. I found some large washers which overcame the problem until I fitted a swing away carrier

Try extra wheel steel nuts at the back, the thin nuts you describe are usually found on discovery's or the post 2007 pressed steel mount
