Hi all, I've been using my air suspension alot recently (taking my nan to see her beloved in hospital) she struggles getting in and out....left work today heard an almighty popping sound like a cork going off, then a series of ricochets as whoever it was flew off ..

At the time I thought I might have run over something, but 5 miles down the road the "air suspension inactive sign" comes up.......the range is still sitting at the right height but won't go up or down.... Any ideas? I've got 5hr journey to Wales Thursday and I can't face going in the missus Audi a3 all the way! Cheers.

Ohhhh....odd one...

If the sound came from outside the car, I would think it could be the pressure sensor on the EAS Air Tank, a Pipe from the Airtank, or one of the valves (The valve block on the L322 is external next to the tank)

If it was from inside the car, I would think it could be a pipe from the compressor 9which is in the spare wheel well).

If all 4 corners are still at road height then I can only assume it is on the storage side of things....

Where abouts are you located??

get it on diagnostics - this will probably point to your problem.

as Mr V8 above, where in this world are you ? one of us lovely gentlemen may be able to help you out :p

Cheers V8, it came from outside the car on the drivers side I think but it was loud enough that my work colleague heard it in his Q7 (and I've been giving him a hard time about all his car woes)

When I tried to reset and then lower car, it sort of tried for a split second then stopped. But yeah looks all at normal height, sort of expecting it to be a sorry state in the morning.... I'm in Kent... Hence Wales in a a3 is a problem especially as why I love my car is that its one of the only ones I fit in ...

A 6'3" and a 56" chest (In a good way mind...:D:D:D) - I have similar issues!

As the Hippo says, Diagnostics will show a fault code which would help.

Cant remember which side the Tank is on, I think Driverside (Will check the manual in a minute) so I can only assume it is either the pressure switch has parted company with the tank, one of the valves has gone kapput or a pipe has popped or popped off....

Tank is on Drivers Side....

If you can get under and have a look and see if there is anything adrift....

If I am not at work or on LZ you can find me in the gym...!!

I played Rugby at college and I got the bug....I then gave up for about 15 years, I have only got back into the gym about a year ago, and I ain't as young, fit or strong as I used to be and that sucks...!!

I look big, but I am such a weed at the moment....my good friend and training partner, Mike, has only be lifting for 3 years, and he is way past me I struggle to keep up - and he looks the bomb too...I still have a lot of mass, but it is all rounded.....should never have given up all those years ago.....still hindsight is always 20/20

i once poped a air pipe on my p38 it was very loud . But i did find that a lorrie air brake repier peace fixed it if that helps.

*** typical, i had a similar noise earlier going down the street to work, to be honest i thought/still not sure what it was weather i ran over a bottle or something, or if it was that, wasnt any difference in the drive, and im still at work now, so not tested the suspension or owt...i didnt even think about it until i saw this thread

please god let there be nothing wrong !!!

its a p38, what can i check ?

Chaps, to confirm, put it into the garage, code 111 came up....cleared it and it's been fine since....fingers crossed ...now just need to get myself back down gym... Shoulder injury...anyone know anything about those lol....:)

Girlfriend has just had a SLAP tear repaired...that was painful for a while - she's a gym rat too...

Mine is grinding slightly and painful if I sit in one place for too long....I think mine is just some form of tendonitus and I should rest it more to let the inflamation settle down...

btw - wtf is Code 111 ?????

Tore the tendons in my shoulder lifting 300Kgs of motorcycle back onto it's wheels. It's never fully recovered and I'm disinclined to have surgery to sort it, at my age surgery is a risk I prefer not to take.
