BIG ANDY DISCO

New Member
my 94 disco has got lazy door locks, ive had the inner trim panel off and ive found 2 central locking modules in the drivers door, is this normal or has someone messed with it before me owning the vehicle.

OK, that sounds possible, do you think it would hert if i remove the lot and add my own remote central locking, as all the door locks are lazy, ive locked myself out more than once due to the locks locking as and when they choose.

You could do, I have one of those cheap motor off flebay on one of my doors.
Think its the drivers door. Was only about £6 landy one are fook knows how much.
Rear one was about £60 3 years ago (Didn't know better then)

It might fook yer alarm/immobiliser up as it talks to the central locking and if it gets ignored it can spit it's dummy

My alarm was ok just didnt open the fookin doors. No fun climbing over from the passenger side when ya back is fooked :(

ive fitted lots of sequrity systems to cars in the past but it seems to me than landrovers are a unique breed, wot do u reacon if i just rip the lot out and start over or spend lots of money sending it back to them lot at liveridge 4x4, after all they are used to taking my money

i could just leave all the origional alarm n immobilizer on cus the fob dont work the doors any more anyway n just fit new cremote locking. only downside being that i have to set alarm for immob to work.

Rip it out and put a cheapy system in off ebay then ya could have it operate of both driver and passenger door :D
Surely an actuator is only an actuator :D, as I said the £6 one of ebay works a treat on mine :D
May be worth running new wires in whilst ya at it, they may be worn where they go into the doors :)

cheers for the advice, i spose it would be better to buy a cheapo off ebay than spend big when i dont need to, at least if it dont work, it hasnt cost the earth and then the rob dogs at liveridge can have some cash.
on a simillar note if anyone is from brum, ive heard of a (landrover doctor) in the chelmsley wood area, does any one have any recomendations on the best place for advice and repairs that dont cost a months wage.
cheers
