just bought a 04 td5 110. central locking range is awful is this the same with all or is there something i can do to improve.
(sometimes the range is alright but normally have to be standing right up close for it to work)

any help welcome

Just the same on my 05 td5 90 - whether there is a new or old battery in the fob.

ha well clearly its just a landrover thing. i have just bought some new batteries for it and the range is slightly improved but i doubt it will last!

Put the remote against your head and then activate it. It increases the range by some distance....

When you do this you have to be looking at the vehicle... dont ask me how it works.

yer i just tried that and it does, strangely, increase the range but only sometimes! strange vehicles!!!

The range on my cheap ebay central locking was crap, so i followed this trick and it worked out great.

(Just make sure you dont get too enthusiastic with the soldering because the antenna module generally wont take heat for too long.)

If it's the same as on the tdci's all you gotta do is to extend the orange wire from the alarm ecu. I've never bothered looking to see if it's in the same place on mine as it is on the tdci landys but if it is it'll be behind the dash on the drivers side.

I've just checked. TD5's do use the same lucas10as alarm so it will be the orange wire that needs extending. All you gotta do is locate it.

the range on mine is particulaly poor (as id my spelling due to red wine) but as i only wany to get in it when i am next to it and lock it when i have just got out of it it has not been a problem

on the tdci the wire terminates at the bottom of the screen. Extending it up the screen pillar (about a foot or so) will give a range of 25m
