Crazier than a box of frogs on acid
Hi all.

Since I've bought my disco the central locking hasn't worked. Fob doesn't work nor does key in door. So completely dead. Starting to get a little annoying when needing to open all the doors when working on it.

So checked the fuses. Nothing amiss there. So what else can I do or I need to check? I have no idea how it works really even after doing a search which made matters more confusing. I'm aware of an actuator in the drivers door that's supposed to control it? Is that correct?

And I guess it's connected to the alarm and immobiliser in some way too? Which also doesn't work. How can I get the alarm to work again?

Any help greatly appreciated. :)

Cheers
Robb

I will add I will try to reprogram another fob I have from a previous disco tomorrow too see if that makes a change?

In a fully functional central locking system the fob sends a signal to a alarm/central locking control unit, the control then switches of the alarm and activates the master actuator within the drivers door.

If u can't lock with the key then do u have power to the actuator? And the control unit?

How do u get the security system to work again ? tell us whats wrong, model year of the vehicle and the system installed is also handy, We don't have a crystal ball :)

Ah yes sorry.

95 disco 300tdi es model. Standard factory fitted system fitted.. No alterations AFAIK.

No central locking whatsoever. Can lock/unlock doors individually with key or by pulling up/pushing down the tabs.

Other than that nothing.

Where is the control box located? In a footwells somewhere I presume? I can test for power at the actuator tomorrow.

People disconnect them Rob as they like to unlock but not lock afterwards! This is obviously not ideal. My bet is the po just unhooked the unit either directly or st each door, as the springs are gone. Pull a door card off or check behind glove box I think for the main box. Then find out you have to do springs which is a faff...

Just changed same unit on mine due to alarm / locking issues. It's the green box mounted to relay bracket under glove box on passenger footwell. You will need the key fob for it or will have to get one programmed to it.
