 Hi Again, having now collected my TD4 up from the diesel repair shop £1100 bill for new lower fuel pump, fuel filter, turbo sensor, and all four injectors recalibrated after only owning for two hours...

I am dismayed to find that rear passenger door central locking does not work, or rather it will lock the car from fob, but can only be opened manually from inside. Is this a small repair that non mechanic like myself can deal with? All other doors open and close on pressing fob.

Also both passenger doors are very very stiff so much so i think i could bend the frame when opening the doors, they looked greased up but old grease, would WD40 help???

As always any help is apprecaited.

Also i need the name of good independent land rover for servicing in or around maidstone kent!

sounds like a failed door lock solenoid, reasonably common, would take about an hour to change yourself, part is around £75 new from a main dealer.

or you could ring these people:

as for the stiff doors, wd40 may help for a bit, but will disolve the grease that is there, then being relatively thin, will disappear quite quickly to leave no lubrication at all. better to try some spray lithium grease, most garages have some to save buying a whole tin.

good luck

as for a good independent in your area, Stuart Gilbert in Sittingbourne seems to be highly regarded (not used him myself), I use Dakar 4 x 4 based nr. swanley, they seem to be really good, and have always given good service, going above and beyond.

Its not to major, had exactly the same problem with my drivers door. I got part from scrap yard out of a 3 door (mines a 5 door, they are the same) for £20 and me and my mate fitted it, took us about 2.5 hour but we didn't have a clue what we were doing. its not complex just very fiddley and annoying. good luck.
