When I operate the key fob, the locks open then close, then open again.

This happens when I am either locking or unlocking the vehicle - it cycles through the process twice.

Whilst driving the vehicle, the locks will sometimes open then close on their own, there is no pattern to this.

Any ideas?

Could be a dodgy linkage in the door...

I have a similar on a previous Classic - one of the rods was incorrectly adjusted so each time the lock actuated, the maladjusted rod would move, but not far enough and it pulled the solenoid back causing the lock to cycle a few times, I ended up unlocking on the key and holding the key in the required position until the locks stopped cycling (a few seconds) as no matter what I tried, I couldn't get the adjustment right....

Not sure if it could be the same thing on the P38 but you never know....

Possibly a good place to start would be fitting the latest RF Receiver, if not already done. A search on here will tell you muchas about it :D

Thanks chaps, I was wondering if something was sticking.

I suppose I will have to go round each lock in turn and strip them.

I'll let you know what it was when I find it.

I had the same problem.

I fix the problem, with a new parts in the alternator, (sorry but I don´t know the English name for that), but, I don´t have the +-14,00 Volts.

After that, the problem dissapear, in my case.

The RR is now not a daily car, so the problem is back, but only in the first minutes of the trip, after that no more problems.

Good "lock".

Ok, I haven't checked the battery voltage either with engine running or not.

I'll check that first, it may well save some time stripping door locks etc..

Your english is good enough, I know what you mean by alternator parts.

Check that none of the door buttons are sticky to pull up or push down manually,as i had that problem recently and the rod connected to the door button needed a little "tweak to let the button slide easily. :)

Hi merlin!

Did you find/resolve the problem?

In my case, the problem is now every time I run the car:mad:.

If you mean the locks are operating on their own while you are driving,Datatek on here found that opening and slamming both parts of the tailgate closed before driving away, stopped this from happening.
:)

Really!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, I will search deep to see "more" about this subject.
(I rarely use the "tailgate".... and had noted that perhaps they need be "calibrated";they make a little noise on bad roads).

Water in the central locking controller can cause similar problems..

Been there done that got the t shirt,
When driving with heater in it dries it out and you would never know...

There is no central locking controller on the P38, it's all done by the BECM and if that goes you have more problems than central locking.
