Good morning all.

I have a 2015 Defender 90 panel sided van. I hit a large deer a few weeks ago and am still waiting for a date for the front end repairs to be carried out.

Since the collision I have had a problem with the central locking in that when I unlock on the fob, the doors lock again immediately before I can open a door. The repairers have told me that it is almost impossible that the issue is connected to the collision, which I can understand but it is quite a coincidence.

Would anyone be able to offer any insight or comment please?
 
Remove the door cards, lube everything up, put back together and see if the issue still there. Could've been the vibration from the impact. Tell your insurance company, they should cover it if it's apart of the accident.
 
Does the central locking unlock ok with the key? If so, the fob battery might be worn out. If that's the case, be sure to follow the battery replacement procedure (see owners handbook). Also, if the car has been idle for a few weeks, is the main battery still fully charged? Beware that if the car is locked with the key it must then be unlocked with the key, and vice versa with the fob - otherwise the alarm goes off.

Exactly this. Disregard what the garage tells you and report the problem to your insurance company as part of the claim if the fault occurred after the accident.

I did replace the fob battery fairly recently but I'll give it a try anyway as i haver a spare.

Exactly.. the garage just want quick £££ jobs.. no £££ in investigating a electrical fault if it is.. tell your insurance company regardless.

Ha ha, Changed fob battery in line with owners handbook (undo fob, take out old battery, insert new battery, close fob, end) presumably there is more to it than Land Rover want to tell me? Alarm keeps going off and car is now immobilised. Any suggestions? EDIT: Replaced with a second battery and now car starts although it still won't unlock it so have to unlock manually.
