My 3-door 1.8 2001 Freelander is a LHD converted from RHD, and although the (what was) the old passenger door and back door work fine using the remote central locking key fob and internal switch, the old drivers door doesn't seem to work. I have to either open it with the key or from inside. If opening it with the key, it does also operate the other doors. Any ideas anyone?

Also electric mirror don't work!. Fuse ok. Again any help please :)

the faulty drivers door lock will almost certainly be a failed solenoid. easiest is just to replace the whole locking assembly. I paid about £75 for a genuine LR one for the drivers side, then about 6 months later, about £45 for a pattern part.

both work equally well, should take about an hour to change.

Also another thing to note is, how well the conversion was done, as converting from RHD to LHD means extending all the wires about 1.5 meters, so it all reaches to the other side.

I`ve seen some really shoddy conversions, so you could be well checking the wireing too. Did these faults occur after the conversion?

Any chance of some photos of your conversion, mainly the steering rack/Brakes servo and Power steering pipes in the engine bay, and also under both passanger and drivers foot wells inside?

Hi, I bought the car already converted, and to be honest it does not surprise me in the least the suggestion that the wiring could a bit iffy!. I've had a few other little issues with the electrics, and I'm planning on checking the wiring for the door lock/mirrors and a few other bits. For example the radio antenna is stuck somewhere under the dash, so I need to lift that and have a look.

I'll try and get some photos on in the next few days.
