Hi, just an onward update, back in July 15 it all seemed to resolve its self, never found out why, now the last four or five weeks, its come back and got worse, only the driver’s door will unlock, and the steering is as heavy as can be. It’s been on a diagnostic set (not sure which one), but a good non-franchise garage looked at it, nothing showing as faulty or failed, except lots of low battery codes, so assume the battery has been down in voltage at some point, but fully charged now.

Procedure now unlock driver’s door start engine, drive to the end of the road. Stop, turn off, lock doors, unlock doors (all work) start the engine power steering back again and drive as normal. Still looking but have little time now until the Easter Break, unless anyone has since found a resolution?

Hi all,
I have looked at central locking treads, no resolve, I have looked at power steering threads no resolve, hence a new thread.

I need help (so does my car!) a 2005 Vogue with a strange issue. When approached she will only unlock the drives door and with the remote (any of the keys) and the button pops up half way on first press. On second press the button pops all the way up and passenger door opens with the button half way up and NO other door will unlock. The central locking button on the dash does nothing. If you attempt to drive like this there is NO power assistance to the steering.

However if you do drive like this for about a mile, stop turn all off, lock the doors with the remote then open again all is good, everything (locks, steering etc.) works 100%.

Now the quirk: If you press the tailgate release button first, once nothing happens, twice, occasionally thrice, the tailgate will release, then you can unlock all doors as normal with the remote, shut the tailgate and drive with full power assistance on the steering and the dashboard central locking button working as well.

Anyone got any ideas? Its defeating me. :(
Steve, I have quite literally the exact same issue on my 05 L322. Did you ever get to the root cause?

I have the same problem. I havent found the answer but it does seem to be rain and trailer light socket related as the issue seems to me more prevelant when I am towing and particularly wet weather. If I am not using the trailer for a period of time it seems to resolve itself. I did also see a post somewhere a while ago when I first went looking for a solution that there ma be a bad earth somewhere possibly in behind the outer trim in the drivers footwell. I am not very good with auto electrics so I am hoping to find some inspiration here.

A bit of an update. I have connected a Halfords solar battery conditioner through the aux power socket in the boot and as far as I can see it has cured the problem.

Masked the problem until darker days in Winter?

Battery drain? There's an earth strap near the front wing on the L322 known to rot through.

I totally agree, check those earth points because once the sun starts to become less visible you’ll loose battery voltage very quickly. I had all kinds of locking issues as well as a dashboard like Blackpool Illuminations all for one earth strap.
Tricky :)

Get a 20 watt panel with a charge controller, that will keep you going right through winter. Not expensive on Ebay.
