1998 300tdi. having trouble with central locking front passenger side.when you open with fob all locks pop up but front passenger side wont open unless you pull the catch up an extra couple of mm.took of door card and all links seem to be ok.all i can see that might be the problem is a black box(dont know what its called)that pulls all the linkages and the catch pops up.but the catch just falls short of the opening position.any ideas what the problem is or what the black box is called.thanks:doh:

You will know if the actuator (black box) is working as u can hear it other than that sounds that the small lock spring has broken.
Have look at the sticky thread at the top of the threads.

thanks discool.took door card of and found little spring inside door.done one on the boot door not so long back,it turned out to be a right pain in the arse,very fidley.second time might be easier.thanks very much.

The front doors are a bit harder as you need to release the window frame and lift the glass out of the way to get at the latch linkages.

it was the spring.got one of ebay and fixed it yesterday.bit of a nightmare because the window runner kept getting in the way.kept at it and got the job done.thanks for the great advice guys.

300tdi1998.window trouble.both back windows wont go up.checked fuses.still cant get them to go up.any way i can do it manually.looks kike rain

I don't know if you can put them up manually but the problem will probably be the window ECU, have a look HERE

In the short term to keep the rain out you could take the door cards off, loosen the motor so it diengages from the regulator lift the window and re-engage the motor to hold it up. (I think).
