Hi all. Well yet another problem with my 200tdi. My central door locking worked fine, then all of a sudden the passenger door wont lock when i lock my drivers door!!!! I can lock and unlock manually, I can lock/unlock it with the key, it will unlock from the Central door locking, but just wont lock:mad:

Anybody else had this problem, and managed to cure it?

you will find the boot doesn't lock as-well, my disco is the same, not had chance to look at it yet

Just popped out and locked my car from drivers door and checked the boot, and its locked, there is slight "bouncing movement" on the passenger door lock when i locked it. Could this be the solinoid or main locking mechanism?????

If you unlock the door and the door pin rises but drops back down slightly then the problem is a broking lock spring.
Also stiff lock mech or C L activator in the door will stop the door unlocking.

Locking from the passenger side or drivers side makes no difference, the lock itself doesnt drop when locking or unlocking its just a slight bouncing when locking from drivers side. when locking manually, it locks fine.

Same has just happened to me tonight. 300tdi locked the drivers door and passenger lock went down slightly and then bounced back up. Locked the passenger door manually and then tried again on the drivers door, this time all doors locked.

Stupidly tried one more time and once again all but the passenger door locked up but still locks ok manually.

I'm hoping its not the little spring in the door as I watched a local mechanic struggling with those clips today and dont fancy trying the job myself.

I will be taking the door card off this weekend so should hopefully find the problem unless someone on here can offer some advice.

yes me too only the boot lock. Is the solenoid surpose to hold the rod up or is it on a cam. As my button on the door drop down and you can't open the door. But the solenoid does jump back and forward but is not solid up or down

I just fixed my boot lock yesterday as it would only open from the outside with the key turned and handle pulled at same time and then to top it all off the barrel feel out . Its abit of a pain and fidly to fix but worth doing as all that needs replacing is the spring inside which costs £4.50 and the pin sliding back on the end of the barrel. But it is worth while removing the entire mechanism from the door or you will never get it on took me 4 hours but all works fine now.
BUT my passanger side door is also doing the same as all yours, it will not lock with the rest of the doors via central locking but will lock manually and with the key, so i would be interested also as to how this is fixed. It cannot be the spring as the door still open from the outside handle without the key in. Is there an easy fix for this??

Well.... I had some time on my hands today so decide to have a proper look and see what was happening. and to my supprise I found the bots on the solonoid were loose. but after tightening them up everything seemed a bit tight, so good old WD40 came into play. All appears fine now, fingers crossed.
