Has anyone had a problem where the CD changer says "no disks" even though there are discs in it!? I have checked fuses - all seem fine. The magazine loads, and you can hear each disc slot being checked but it wont go any further...I miss my tunes! Any ideas please? Thank you lovely people!

I had someone with this problem and they were putting the discs in upside down, in the magazine.

I have tried the other way up too, but still no joy.

I thought that it may have been something that someone had seen before, I am still new to all this lark....only had the car 2 weeks! And love it!

The men at LR say they will have a look...leave it to them I suppose!

To be honest, at £80 per hour, it maybe cheaper to buy a new one! I have just recently installed a Pioneer DEH-P6800MP Head Unit and a
Pioneer CD-BTB100 Bluetooth Adapter for hands free mobile phone and stuck two walnut blank plates to cover the screws/install plate. Job done.

With the
Pioneer DEH-P6800MP or equivalent you get MP3/AAC/WMA support which means you get more than 6 CD's worth of music on a single CDR.

Best solution if your thinking of upgrading or replacing your original RR cassette radio.

Are the cd's you are trying to play proper cd's that you bought or cd-r's that have been burnt by your computer?? i remember hearing reports somewhere that the cd changer can be fussy about the brand of cd-r you use. the cd reader lens may also need a clean.

I think Wills has hit the nail on the head, it's more likely that the CD Changer is so old that it maybe worn/dirty or is old enough not to be as compatible with CDR's as a CD player of recent years especially ones with MP3 support.

I still think that removing the old stereo and replacing it with a modern CDR based MP3 player is the way to go with P38 RR's.

I also HIGHLY recommend the Pioneer AVIC-X1BT Car Sat Nav & Entertainment System with Bluetooth for hands free mobile phone use. Its a very sexy piece of kit and updates the whole vehicle and brings it up to date.

I had the exact same problem, took the CD changer out, removed the outer casing, cleaned up the lens, put evrything back together and everything worked fine again

CD Changer is not loading discs. Problem is the worm gear on the loader arm. Another gear is stuck to the worm gear, gently free the worm gear by rocking the worm gear with a small screw river, when free test.

First job on my newly acquired Disco! Fault showed as 'No disc' on display head so took multichanger out. No need to take driver's seat out (as per Mr Haynes' advice) - take four floor-mounting nuts off and take two screws out of offside mounting bracket, disconnect single multi-pin lead at back and job done. Prised off cover, freed off 'big black wheel', cleaned unit and re-fitted - seems to go so much better with 'ZZ Top's Greatest Hits' blowing out of the speakers!

Usually the no disk is becuse the motor that drives it is failing its supposed to spin at somthing like 500 rpm if it can spin fast enough it can't read the disk

Hi ,

I had the same problem on 2004 Vogue , Showed no disc even though there were discs in.
I used a cleaning disc but then magazine jammed. No amount of pressing the Green Eject button worked until I used this technique https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO--7A3mACM . Now everything works fine - I used the end of a screwdriver whilst pressing the green button - a couple of sharp knocks did the trick , then used the lense cleaner

Really useful, many thanks for the YouTube link. Which type of lens cleaner did you use? It was a while ago now so you might of course not remember!
