I'm banned from using mine since I went to open my window to tell a passing motorist that the road was blocked because of snow. You guessed it, what was on the roof landed mostly on the passenger seat which was occupied at the time by the Enemy. Then I couldn't close it, jammed with thee white stuff. God was I popular that day.:D:D:D but it made me laugh.
Obviously like to live dangerously if you laughed:eek:

Back on the original point, why would you bother spending all that money to fix the radio system?

Rip it out and get a modern one installed that plays MP3 off a memory chip. Carry all the music you could ever want on a chip the size of your thumbnail. With Bluetooth for your phone, etc. etc.

You think that would be easy on a P38?

I will be looking at all options once I have determined the cause of malfunction.

However people who own P38s do it because of its vintage value and original spec and not modern comfort.

I do have a decent audio/video home set up with 7000+ ripped CD tracks (a few digitised LP-remember those?) which I play via DLNA armchair operation and enjoy.

I will keep you informed of my progress or lack of.

Hi all,

It has been identified that the Head is faulty and all other components work ok.

So I am looking for a Head unit. If anyone has one for sale please let me know or any other advice.

I will be looking in ebay.

Hi guys,
It was a false start. I was told it was the faulty radio head (Halfords)-tried a new one and did not work. Now I am told by a RR repair shop that it is the amplifier- I believe them.
There are a few different ones on ebay but how do I determine which model will do for my system-if I don't find an axact model. My amp is XQK100290 120094 Harman/kardon A4053 BE 3895.

On ebay one is XQK 100210 (£65.00) and another XQK 100210 and says works as XQK 100340 (279.00) and another XQK100340 120094 hk A4053 BE 3895 (£580.00).

Who can advise me as to which one will work in my system before I part with my money.

Any help will be most appreciated.

William

I've found that the specialist breakers can be a mine of useful information on what works with what. There's Emmotts, our sponsors, or my favourite, Andy at RangeRoverBreakers just outside Bath.
