Im after a CB radio for my defender for when i go green laning in a group.

I have absolutley no idea what to look for?

Can anyone give me any tips or pointers?

Eventually i want to fit it into a mud stuff dash with my head unit, gauges and switches.

I just bought cheapest from maplin, works ok for me. I did buy used off eBay prior to that and they were fubar, you will need to have a fixed type ariel mount as mag mounts don't like landies. Hope this helps

what about setting them up correctly its not the case of plugging ariel in and that it is it?

You need to make sure the aerial mount has a decent earth (ground plane), if mounting to the body of a Fender most run an earth cable to the chassis but some seem to manage of with scrapping some paint off.

Best to check the rig with an swr meter before using else you can knacker it. Cheap enough to buy or an offer of cake might persuade a member with one to meet up. It only takes a minute.

Im looking into these as well at the moment but I need a 24 volt one.

I have one I want rid of. From thunderpoll, only been used for a week in wales.

Works fine but has blue illumination which my OCD doesn't like in the Disco 2. Want to get a green one :behindsofa:

Oh I never set mine up with a swr meter because when I plugged it in it never seemed to do anything.

i got a maplins cheapy n it do's what is say's on the tin it all works for the money, all acording how often your going to use it when not laning

And how much were you looking for posted? Is it just the unit or the whole set up please???

Just plugged mine in and it worked in car park if u remember BB, think it was mounting ariel in the spare wheel on bonnet fubar end mine lol
This one I have mounted on the front bumper plugged in and it seems to work well, even speaker from pikey works....

Your swr was probably sky high in the spare
