nah mate, i aint changin the subject im just doin 2 things at once 
i never came on sayin i know everything about cb radios whewre asyer man was on last neet and never mentioned owt ter daft about that cb bein ****, i just found a rig fer a tenner on ebay and posted a link, if daft chose ter buy it and yer man dint decide he knew what it was until he googled it this mornin then it aint my feckin fault

they're small but probably one of the best older sets around, try looking round a few car boot sales, might find one or two, picked mine up for a bargain at £2.50,
i wouldnt buy one off ebay as the prices of em are creeping up now, its just cause they are a good radio

The VSWR MIGHT go 1:1 at some frequency if the antenna was perfectly set up and clear of all metallic objects.
The bigger the antenna the wider the band of frequencies that will give you a low VSWR.
In many setups, especially mobiles, one will never be able to get it down to 1 : 1 , and it isn't a big deal really.
Under 1 : 1.5 is pretty good, and safe for long term use.
In a vehicle, you can watch the VSWR alter as the antenna bends back in the slipstream.

OY, I used a binatone r66 for years, it was a great set, seemed to put out a lot stronger signal than most of the 87fms back in the day, and it cost 17 quid, saw one for £40 on fleabat the other day.
We stopped using them cos the whole spectrum got blanketed by what sounded like a warsaw cab company using a cold war transmitter, plus we got a private channel on our Motorsport safety/med sets, much better, 25 mile signal if not too much stuff is between sets and no idiots, ish.
