Been done a few times recently, give it a search. General concensus is if it came with one you need to have one, but on older diesels its a bit of a grey area.

bankz5152 Well-Known Member Oct 24, 2014 #6 Took the Cat/DPF off my 2002 TD5 90. MOT'd in July passed with no advisories. If you are worried a few companies do fake bolt on Cats.

vilguy Do'er of stuff and the like Oct 24, 2014 #7 ITs been covered a million times on every forum probably. If you have a friendly MOT tester itll be ok, maybe.... but if they are a stickler (which is no bad thing at times) then it will fail. Unless it was never fitted with a cat from the factory. I cannot be arsed to go to the search funtion......
