Hi all,
May have to replace my Cat on my Freelander.....normally i would have just disposed of it at my local Recycling Centre BUT a neighbour mentioned that Scrap Dealers fall over themselves to buy them:confused:

Is this is true does anybody on here know why & roughly how much do they pay....

Cheers.....

Jeez......80 squid:eek::eek::eek:

My new one i have priced online i can get for around £95........

Seems weird.....

Think i will phone a few scrap places 2moro......even if the scrap one paid for half of the new one i will be smiling:D:D

be aware that replacement ones are sometimes not proper CATS and have important internals missing which is why they are so cheap.

They are worth a lot of money in scrap though :D

Best ones are off Peugeot 307's i think - ironically, the ones off things like Porche's aren't worth very much at all!

Hi Bump,

Cheers for that info......got me a bit worried now:eek:

Have had quotes ranging from £85 up to around £170...they do all look exactly the same & from reputable places....cheapest was an eBay company who have a good reputation...all guaranteed for 2 years also.

Cheers

Dunno about simms. I took a load of stuff to s j bull , Albany trading estate. I never gave it a thought until my bro told me he got 40 quid for a few leisure batteries and bits and pieces.

........all helps.

I wouldn't expect you to get a "proper" cat for £85. I would imagine they should be nearer the £150 mark, but, tbh I don't know enough about Freelanders to give you the best advise.

Thing is, a cheap cat will work for the exhaust, it just won't remove all the harmful gases like a proper cat does.

Round here, it's about a fiver for a car battery and £50-£90 per cat, OE cats are worth more than pattern tho... :-D
