Does anybody know what colour the remote wire is coming from the standard cassette player in a freelander. I've bought a aerial booster free fleabay and it has a small red wire coming out of it and was told its recommended to hook that Upto the remote wire.

The haynes says its a red/black and red/white but couldn't find that, it only has a seperate red and black. I thought remote wires are usually blue.

I've tried hooking up booster to a 12v supply from doggie lighter but the reception is worse
Any ideas on this one?

Remore wires from head units are normally blue, all ive done anyway!! Ive always been sceptical about the Aerial booster world, its just an amplifier, that also amplifies the interference too, especially the cheap ones.

It most likely needs to be connected to the +12v switched ignition supply so that it comes on with the stereo. Just test the cables with a meter to locate the switched supply.

Saying that if it's getting worse then the amplifier is doing its job - amplifying the dodgy signal making it even worse. Your best to try and sort out why the signal is bad in the first place.

i dunno, theres one in my car not sure how it got there, must be from the 60s.

anyway,
i gave up, scraped the booster was only 6 pound, and just bought a new aerial from motor factors, as i had the bee sting, hense the booster, now working perfectly.
