not a land rover, but a generator, i left the petrol in it over winter and it wouldnt start, so i removed the carburetor and cleaned with carb cleaner, and it now runs, but only with the choke open,
as soon as i close the choke it stalls, whereas previously as soon as it started you had to close the choke,
ive left it running for 20mins to fully warm up but its no different, does anyone have any idea's

No idea but that's never stopped me in the past....
Take off the float bowl (if it has one) looking up into the carb there should be several jets, the smallest of these will be the pilot.
Alternately, there may blanking screws in the side; removing these can expose the jets. Again the smallest will be the pilot.

Actually, I think going in from the bottom will be your best bet.

And use compressed air or very soft copper wire to unblock a jet. Reaming it out will give even more problems.

its a kipor ig2000 generator

Sorry, not one I've dealt with but most small engines have a central main jet, inside the tube the float bowl retaining bolt fits into, look inside the tube and you will see a jet usually made of brass with a screwdriver slot, just undo it till jet comes out.

i found that one, i think its clear now

all jets are clear, but still running the same, if it runs with the choke out im i right in thinking the mix is weak and closing the choke weakens it more?
it is still on the old petrol probably 18/24 month old, could that be responsible for weak mix

of course it is empty and flush the tank out with fresh petrol refill it and clean the spark plug itll be absolutely fine :smokin::smokin:

mine has a corroded fuel tank which blocks the gauze fillter inside after letting enough **** through to play havoc with carb
