ADZ the point I was making was that surely you would use the 3rd lane to pass as articulated vehicles are allowed to use it?? Thus allowing you to be on your merry way and leave the traffic jams behind !

3 points for towing a trailer in lane 3 on a British Motorway - unless it's got four or more lanes ;)

Take5 - I think Anna meant "aren't" allowed to use it.

Anna, I hear what you're saying. However, high-speed caravans are still the exception, not the rule ;) Particularly on single carriageway roads, just don't start me off on horse boxes! :D

Cheers,

As i am also a hgv driver using motorways for most of the night, if some one is holding the middle lane, i dont tailgate them.......i overtake them on the inside, end of story, they soon get the message.

Hi all.
Is it fair to say that there are some people on the roads in these fair isles that have no concern for the rules of the the road be they legal or just being thoughtful about how their driving affects other road users. The next problem is they dont talk to other people about it because they've no problem with the way they drive and some of these people have carravans. The next issue is our fault as we trust them to drive consideratly.
I used to tour and really enjoyed it but was always aware of how i drove and my affect on other road users. Sadly this is not the case any more and i advise you all to fit rocket launchers and dont wait for them to prove you right!...........bless em.

Cheers, Nick.

i havent towed many caravans, but ive done a fair bit of trailer towing. and ive always been considerate to other road users. esp when using the old landy or summat equally sluggish.
when theres been a bit of a jam behind me, ive pulled over at a layby and let them go. no problems if get where im going to, five/ten minutes late.

tried towing at high speed with a volvo estate once on the M6 at Stoke. learnt my lesson when the trailer/rally car tried to overtake me! ffs.

no spare undies either.

Somebody mention caravans then???

Love em.
I rally, run rallies and spend a s*** load of the year on fields at various rallies. I dont do sites very often, far too unsocial for me.
As for towing, i pay my dues like others so i will tow at a responsible speed that keeps my outfit and others safe ta very much.:D
