Weight is not an issue as such but length i feel is due as a caravan that is to long may tend to try to push or pull a 90 compared with a discovery or a Range rover

To be expected silly remark...
 
a 90 will hold its own against any uk market caravan they can tow car transporter trailers with another 90 on that so a caravan will be no worries

If you ddidn't pass your test before January 2007 you would be lucky to be able to pull a sooty van.

If this is the case then your total weight of car and trailer cannot exceed 3500kg and the trailer you are towing cannot exceed the laiden weight of the vehicle.

If you passed before you can pull anything upto the maximum train weight the car can handle, above this and it is then illegal. Im having a semi stab/educated estimate of 3500kg braked trailer but this is reduced by how much weight you are carrying in the vehicle.

This is to the best of my knowledge, i am a post Jan 97 caravan puller so had to look a little in to it.
 
As for what is safe (rather that what is legal) - if you belong to any law enforcement agency please don't read this bit :) (or work for HSS hire)

I got a four wheeled flatbed trailor (with overirde breaks), and put around 2tonnes on it(evenly loaded), and headed off down the A12 without any major problems. - I'm not going to mention when I passed my test here as 2000kg + weight of landy (fully loaded) = >3500kg)

The load was maninly very large flight cases which made it into a box(about caravan height). Fuel eco. whent down to about 8mpg at 60mph (2.5TD), but it made it the 50 miles to london without a problem.

it did give me a bit of a kick in the back when breaking as there is some play in the adjustable height tow bar, and some movement before the override comes in.

It even managed to reverse this load up a 15% incline against the override breaks without even breaking in to a sweat! (there was a bit of a burnnig smell from the breaks)
 
I once towed a 21 foot portacabin around the M25 for six junctions with my SIIa SWB. The cabin had tiny wheels and no brakes. I hung a normal towing light board at the back but the cable was too short so I used a second battery just to light the tail lights. :D
Highly illegal but it towed with no problems. It was so wide I could not see what was behind in the side mirrors. Luckily we did it at 2am so not too much around. I was young and stupid then but now I'm just stupid. :eek:
A 90 will tow any caravan you can legally buy for the road. Length is not the issue its the weight that pushes you. Just remeber that you need a bit more space when you go round corners.

I towed a large static caravan along a public road with my rangie!! It looked funny as ****.:D
As for the legalities of that said venture, well lets just say glad the old bill wer'nt about!:D..lol..:D
I once knew someone who drove his rrc through a small sprite!:D

I drove my 90 from Hull to Somerset towing a 15ft 4berth pikeywagon. The pikeymobile weighed 1100kg & I probably had another 300kg of gear stored inside it. & the 90 was stacked solid with tools and books, cd's clothes etc. And I never had any problems at all. The 2 mile long queue behind me, as I crawled along at 40mph all seemed to be having problems with their horns though. :D :D
 
90 slightly more chance of the tail wagging the dog compared to 110/disco etc. so get a decent stabaliser and it'll be peachy
 
as long as your towing it to the local scrappy im sure the police would give you a guard of honour to make sure you got it there
 
I tow a 23ft 5 berth van with my 90, get a stabiliser fitted and u will tow way better, have to use the gears a bit on inclines but pulls no probs. just make sure your caravan brakes are adjusted properly or the truck does all the braking and brake fade on a steep decent doesnt half make your arse grab the seat:)
