Maybe my turn to have the **** ripped as I'm no expert in this at all but......

With the front prop removed, wouldn't the transfer box have to be in lock mode? When you put the new front prop on, did you take it out of diff lock?

If not, then maybe you're winding the centre diff up.

Earmuffs are on ready for the shouting that these posh motors don't do centre diffs or are automatic or something :behindsofa:
No diff lock AFAIK...but then again...:5bbanghead:

If it has a viscous coupling centre diff, and you have driven it for yonks with the front propshaft MISSING, chances are you may have duffed up the viscous coupling. It is NOT intended to be treated like that, and may well not be able to stand it for prolonged periods.

You might be lucky ...

Have you checked all the oil levels are well up?

Low oils makes bad noises.
