Can anyone help me please. I recently changed my drivers door outside handle because the metal handle had broken. All went ok and after i finished it worked a treat, opening the door easier than before, but then i went to get in one morning and it wont open.. I have searched on here but cannot find how to open the door when none of the levers are opening the door.
I have managed to get the door card off so i have access to the gubbins, but no amount of pullin n pushing, swearing n bashing have worked. I have tried both handles together, holding the lock button up n holding the key over, and even bashing the outside with a rubber hammer..
Do i need a lock smith, or is there a way i can get it open meself..?
I found all the info i need once its open btw..

I seem to remember (we are talking decade plus ago) either classic or disco lock wear there is sliding parts that wear and cause fault you describe.

Have a look at old lock and I suspect your see what I mean it binds up and can be manipulated to slide.

After having a nosey it looks like its a spring that breaks n causes problems. You can buy the springs on ebay, but the problem i have is getting the door open so that i can get to the lock..

If the spring breaks, and it is the common spring for the locking mech, then holding the lock up will let you open it, sounds to me like something else.

Sorted it.. It turned out that the door undoing rod (with the screw adjuster on the bottom) coming down from the outside handle needed undoing a bit. When i put the new handle in i had to stretch the rod to fit it back. I started to take it all apart again, but the door opened when i released the rod.
I am leaving the door card off for a bit just in case..
Thanks for the input guys, always an awkward one to sort with so many moving bits..
