OK, replacing a broken spring is not an easy job, but it can be done. The only way I was able to get it in was by grinding one of the edges to taper it slightly, this allowed it to go in the space at an angle.
Once in you need to edge it forwards gently and make sure you lift the the front so it goes over the 4th gear dog and snaps in position. Easy really.
Unfortunately i dint do this and wacked it in realy hard causing the end to bend double......
Luckily it is in far enough to have a springing effect and it will never come out, and best of all I CAN GET 3RD AND 4TH!!!!!
Somehow tho I can see me having to look at this again in the near future....
