Hi, I have 2009 Freelander 2 HSE Automatic and I cannot open the front passenger door from the inside. I used to be able to but now I cannot. I did have to use emergency key to open door recently and it may have been since then that I cannot now open the door from inside. It may or may not be related - I do not know. Any help/suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks

If you have a diagnostic read done, then it might well come up with a lock fault.

However it could be as simple as the cable between the internal release has become detached from the lock assembly, which happens on occasion.

Thanks for reply. No problem opening door from outside, just won't open from inside using handle/lever or pushing the unlock button on the dash.

Surely the unlock button will just unlock the door, not open it.

As it happens, my F1 rear passenger door will open from inside but not the outside often. Pushing the top of the door usually then enables it to be opened. Been like it since I got the car, must get round to fixing it at some point, only had the car 10 years.

On mine, that was a simple matter of tweaking the wire from handle to lock as it gets pulled out of shape with constant pulling. I think I remade the 90 degree angle and refitted it.

Sounds like a fault on the cable release for sure. The P38 plays similar tricks on occasion, all resolvable. :)
....alternatively, if you wait a while the legends say the doors will automatically fall off for you. ;)

The unlock button on the dash is just that, an unlock button. It won't open the door, like the door lever does.

The internal door lever pulls on a cable to release the latch, which has been known to become detached.
