I'm rebuilding my Defender on to a galv chassis. Mainly because the body panels were developing holes. Now that it is totally stripped down the chassis seems to be in good nick. I had a new rear cross member welded on about 2-3 years ago along with the drivers side outrigger. The rest seems solid. Is there any money in it, even for scrap? The parts bill for the rebuild is mounting up, so a few quid will come in handy!
cheers.

£14 scrap and cut it up- otherwise it will be cloned

keep original chassis leg/dumb iron with id in case you need it

I belive its illegal to knowingly sell just a chassis ( second hand) apparently the correct thing to do is fit your new one then dispose of the old one in a manner that makes it unusable for the road , build an off roader with it !

Seriously? Is it not the case its the I.D. that you shouldn't sell on its own? You can sell a chassis if you want, even without I.D..

not legal to sell a second hand chassis, in the rulebook of the DVLA it states that " should a chassis be replaced it has to be brand new of the same type and the old chassis must be cut up or disposed of in such a way it cannot be reused on the road "

a galvanised chassis counts as being the same type as as far as the DVLA is concerned its just a coating , same category as painting it and therefore not of interest

hope this helps

Sell it to the wrong guy and he will contact dvla claim the v5 and as he has the chassis he technically has the real car and you are the cloner!

exactly why by law they are supposed to be cut up

just grind all the numbers off and build an offroader with it :) shame to cut up a good chassis

Guess I'll cut the VIN off and get someone to take it away. Doesn't seem worth trying to haggle over the scrap value.

Had the same dilemma with mine but in the end cut it up and the scrap van lot took it away, bulkhead too, a good day for them haha but I needed it gone
