hi again all. bro has let his battery on his 98 diesel, go completely flat again. not too upset the neighbours i disconected the sounder before putting the fully charged battery back in. it will not except the eka code now dashboard says keycode lockout after about 6 attempts at entering eka code. i know i have to wait 30 minutes now before trying the code again, but will it except it with the sounder unplugged? i know from experience that it will not except it with either the drivers door or bonnet open.

name gives you a clue, why i cannot push the sill button to correspond with the key.lol. eka sequence worked last time i had to use it, and the car has not moved since. i am just trying to find out if i have negated the eka sequence from working by having the sounder unplugged

If you mean the BBS (Battery Back-up Sounder), it has F-all to do with EKA input.
BBS is there for the double chirp of a mis-lock condition.
EKA input is registered either as binnacle light flashes or side-repeater lamp flashes as far as I know.
But I am a Fumb Duck and could be wrong. ;)

i dont know if its the BBS, its the black 4" cube box on the wing on drivers side behind the battery that makes that high pitched noise when the alarm goes off

not totally sorted, unfortunately. plugged the sounder back in today. i could then reset the windows and sunroof not set. but now you open the doors with either the key or the fob, put key in ignition turn to position one no messages displayed. turn on ignition eveything lights up as should do, but the alarm goes off every time, switches off when you press the fob, open any door and no message comes up on dash telling you which door is open, injector heater lights comes on for a while then goes out, which it should. when you crank it no messages come up, but all the warning lights come on including the preheat relay symbol. starter struggles to turn the motor over. any suggestions? it it just a matter of disconecting the negative terminal to reset the alarm.?

have you tried smelling the fuse box for burning as they are known to develop faults and cause problems

Low battery voltage. If the sounder is the BBS version, it has an internal battery that fails, best leave it unplugged.

i am of the opinion that once you let the battery go dead flat. (not even the alarm led was flashing) there is no way of recovery for a range rover p38, its the only thing that makes sense to me.another new battery required me thinks.
no smell of burning in the fuse box
