Looks like a standard distributor with an aftermarket conversion to replace the points with an electronic pickup.
If you pull the rotor arm off, the grey bit below will probably just pull off -revealing the shaft with the lobe on it. The other bit should just unscrew and a new set of points and condenser can then be fitted. IF they haven’t modified or lost any original bits.

All gone I am afraid working on it now just dies again when it's hot replaced coil pump and carb now has blackish smoke which it never had thanks for your advice though

You need to check the timing if you have gone back to points, as it is probably in a different position.

I haven't gone back to points I thought this unit was faulty so bought another one which turned out to be wrong the trigger switch on the pictured one has thecmagnet built into the rotar arm the one I bought comes with a separate trigger but if course now you can't put the rotary cap back on so out if desperation I cut the magnet off the old rotar arm put the 2 together and yes it started but again died after heating up? I did have a very hot coil but I upgraded it and now it seems to be fine . I think I am getting a weak spark to be honest as I have run out of options now someone told me these engines are simple I have had minis ,VWs and Mgs this is the only bone that is frustrating the hell out of me lol

i hear a lot have gone with electronic set up in the dizzy and down the track the electronic units fail and leaves them stranded, i had thought of using a electronic set up but i have heard many fail and are of cheap quality so i stuck with points and condenser.
