Hi all

I've found alsorts of things over a long period of time about wot antifreeze to put in my 300 disco well I have this stuff that says O.A.T on the back but also says it's ethylene glycol, it looks green against black and looks pink against white so I've no idea. Is there one that I must definitely not use

Thanks guys

I have just checked the 300tdi manual for you, it says the antifreeze should be ethylene glycol based
no mention of colour but its a known rule not to mix the colours, if it were mine I would just flush the
cooling system & pour in what I had, this year im using blue gear in my motors :)
Do not use any antifreeze that contains Methanol
But I do have pink & green in my stash :)

Thanks for that, yeah I've looked as well, it just says no methanol and must suit ally engines doesn't it. Il just keep swapping the water only for now to give it a good flush, il get some old type stuff if needs be

Cheers

Don't use OAT (pink/green) in 200/300 tdi. Use the blue ethylene glycol stuff. OAT is used in TD5 engine. If you go to halfords and put in your reg no it should come up with the right one.

OAT is fine in a V8 cooling system also, I’ve been using the stuff for the last 17 + years, it’s changed every 5 years :)

Thanks for clearing that up people

I've been given 5 litres of old blue type

I've been running with water only for about a week and I've changed it I think 5 times now thinking that I would end up using old stuff but it's had pink in since I've had it, how much of an indicator that is that it was oat I don't know. I was wondering which part of the tdi engine is supposed to be affected by oat so thanks for that
