A true story from my teen years.
When I was young and daft a mate had a vauxhall viva and was miffed with the steering wheel being on a squiffy angle when going straight, and after several attempts to get it straight, rather than set the tracking he had a fabtastical idea about unbolting the wheel going for a drive, remving the wheel quickly and putting it back on while driving straight, all was going great untill the wheel would not go back on and the car went staright through a hedge.

oops,i have done this as well,many years ago though.luckily i didn't go through any hedges etc.:D;)

I was getting worried for a min there, i thought you wanted to reverse the steering wheel, i'll admit i've considered that once or twice, but only cos i can't always fit in the paperthin gap between the steering wheel and seat

You can get aftermarket 8 spoke or modular wheels with more offset, Wolf rims or even rims from a one tonne series Land-Rover. I suppose they would give a little bit extra stability. I've not tried it but in theory wheels with more offset will give the stering stronger self centering, but then at the same time it will make the steering heavier. I'd like to get hold of some one tonne rims myself because they look right on a series. What I find a bit annoying greenlaning in a series Land-Rover is that they don't fit properly in the ruts made by coilers with their wider axles. Wheels with more offset would go some way to solving that problem.

Haysey memory. Vw 4x100 and ford 4x108 PCD but that don't matter. Modifiyi g people do lots os crazey stuff. Thay don't expect to be able tobounce dawn agreen lain afterwards though.
 
another wheel reversal was on the early mini's,if you could not get cooper or cooper S wide wheels the poor amongst us used to reverse the standard mini wheels,looked ok but the wheel bearings didn't last long though.:mad::D;)
