I was wondering if I can drive my Freelander without the undertray. It's to go in the garage and I thought save them doing it I'll leave it off and then I can do the oils after they've done with it as well?

I have been running like this for about 3months now!
I still can't pin point my oil leak tho!

have you checked that the oil filter is seated properly this happend on mine.

I ran for it for 3months no probs as optimus prime says it will get cruddier (Dirtier)
 
Ahh dirty. There isn't an oil leak touch wood!! I just did some servicing and have moe to do, but it's going to the garage for the timing belts, so I can cut labour costs by leaving it off, plus I can finish my oil changes.

I think it's the rocker cover again!
Most of the back of the block has some sort of oil seepage, it's more so at the corners where the rocker cover sits. Also I'm suspecting some oil in the turbo air system somewhere! One of the intercooler pipes shows signs of oil at one end, needs more investigation tho.

cool I actually modded the tray on mine, so when servicing all we did was take the black plastic tray off.
1 easier while off the car
2 Drill the four pop riviets that hold the tray to the guard frame on the sides
3 drill the rivets at the front think there was 4 across front of tray,
4 I used them automotice cleats like a rivet but you can put bolts in them
5 for the sides get two bits of angled metal drill holes accordinaly, then again with automotice cleats, bolt to frame
6 same to attach the plastic tray to the add angle pieces
7 where the tray sits across the front of car where the four cleats are now cut 4 cuts just wider than bolt, inline with the bolts so all you do to take off is to losen these fourbolts.and hopefully pull back slighty to take the tray off you.
The only orginal bolts to undo still are the two at the back on the back of the subframe 1 on the left and on on the right will need washers on all the bolts. I found this out the hard way tighened bolts up and they pulled through
Have got pics but on different Hard Drive i'll post them if you want be tomorrow night (Monday) as drive at work

Might be an idear to replace the Rocker cover gasket
I think there is supposed to bit a little bit of oil in there to lube the Turbo as there is that pipe that cmes from the Oil Breather box Square shaped bit that sticks up on the Rocker cover,

Found that out because a pipe had come lose on mine and i noticed oil in that, so I check with a mechanic at work it was that funny half moon pipe sticks out of the think pipe to the Turbo, I will say Check your EGR aswell as mine had clogged up.
Is your car a TD4 or the Rover Diesel Mine was a 1998 Rover diesel
