Today I got a little done on my 90, a friend welded me 2 thick L brackets on my chassis rails under the tub so that my winch tray can be bolted to it between the rails under the tub..

I think its going to be a very tight squeeze with the winch under the tub. Can i cut a hole in my tub so i can get to my winch from above or would that cause issues for an MOT?

I plan on cutting a letter box in the rear of the x member and mounting the roller fairlead onto the x member possibly with long bolts that can go all the way through and into my winch tray.

Will it pass an mot? just wondered with cutting through the floor supports

I would have thought it would as it's not structural,lets put it this way mine will be getting an access hole in the rear tub.

I think I'm gonna cut it. was thinking of a chequer floor but raised as mine is king cabbed but with a box in the back, so i only have the width to cover and about 10 inch deep, maybe raise it a couple inch and chequer around the wheel arches.

cutting a hole should have no affect on the mot, as long as you dont leave any sharp extensions of the body work that may injure a pedestrian in the effent of a colision (always left to the testers interpretation, some would even fail for a front mounted fairlead or front mounted tow bar ), or as long as the structure is not being weakened near a seat or seatbelt anchorage point, which I doubt you will have rear seats if your putting in a rear winch.

you should be absolutely fine, but it may just be worth taking your vehicle to your usual mot tester and running through your plan with him. he is after all likely to be the chap interpreting the legislation.

awesome, I shall do that then. I don't have a usual tester at the minute as we moved but Ill find one and go ask.
