as title says, does anyone know where I can get just a starter solenoid rather than havin to buy the whole motor???

I traced a non starting fault to a loose bolt where all the wires connected to the solenoid.
Some total muppet had used a steel nut with the wrong type of thread on the copper threaded stud. It hadnt been tightened right up so all the wires where wiggling about. However when I tried to tighten it up, it just snapped off!!!

The starter looks really new so I really just want a new solenoid. If anyone knows where I can get one, it would be a great help!!! prefferably cheapish tooo!

btw its a 3.5 v8 (auto although dont think it makes a difference)

Yes.. STC1242 is for a disco V8.

does it not depend if its lucas or bosch?

I think the 3.5 had the early Lucas

If you can find a service centre you might get a repair.

I rebuilt mine approx 1 million times but in the end had to buy one from britpart, was just over 90 quid I think. Makes my life a lot easier!!

I did mine,cost about £18 for the solenoid from my local auto electrics garage and I fitted it myself.

i just bought a new one (not recon) for £65 off ebay...they're cheap as chips
