Hi guys,
I am renewing my sills, A, B and C pillars on my 73 Series 3.

Rather than weld the B and C pillars onto the sill, is there any reason why I couldn't drill through and hold them to the sill with a nut and bolt - just thinking would make them easier to remove at a later date should I need to.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

Adam

My only reservation is seat belt mountings are linked to these parts , or they are on my similar 110sw.
Saying that, they are bolted everywhere else so as long as you do a good job ? Should be ok.
From memory it's not much of a tab to drill/bolt through? Might want to beef up that area to fit extra bolts?
It can't be too strong- keep that in mind is my thoughts.

As this is your first post , get yourself over to the introduction forum double quick and tell us a little about yourself and your truck , tis the polite thing to do.
Hello and welcome from me:)

Thanks Flossie, will do.
I totally agree with it can't be too strong. I could maybe weld some supports onto the B and C pilars and then have multiple bolts through these and the sill so it isn't just secured in one small place.

Tell him to sod off the nosy git. You bolt away if thats what you want me old china. Your going to die in an accident anyway. Thats just series driving for ya. :p

Lol thanks Bob.

I'm more concerned of the kids being in there than me.

Seriously, do you think a support and bolts will be okay or should I just weld it as rover intended?

If only I knew what an A or indeed B pillar was. Mine was too early to have seat belts fitted and as I drive a bus several thousand miles a week without anyone wearing one I feel they are slightly over hyped.

Sills & pillars must have be fully welded for your mot or its a fail ie not tacked ever 1 inch or so ;)

Welcome Btw :)

I understand they should be welded but the seatbelt fixings are only bolted, so if a nut and bolt is ok for the fixing why must the pillar be welded
