Hello all, first disco, first post so here goes! Does my 96p 300 tdi auto have a cam chain or cam belt?

I know Disco sell cheap but bloody hell thats a bargain!

That's a real bugger, thanks for the answers. Any idea how much they cost to replace?

If you put new tensioner etc on then £70 to £100 in parts and about and hour and a half of your time.

also suggest you get yourself a Haynes manual for the Disco 1.
Read it and read again, paricularly about the servicing.
If you do a search for "300Tdi cambelt change" you will find what you need.

I did one recently for a friend parts cost me £86.00 from general traffic and took me just over 1 hour but that was inc having a brew

I think it's a good idea to change the water pump as well while you have the car in bits. Adds £30 to the cost but it's well worth it for peace of mind.
