Thanks guys I'm happy with her but I will pass your messages on to my partner, hopefully he will stop worrying about what the random said then

I paid 3k for my rot box years ago. I love it and don't give a damn what anyone else thinks. Ive spent alot of time and money on mine and that's totally down to me.

Enjoy your landy it's looks rather nice from the front! More pics please!

If I were to ask my old man if for example an E reg 90 is worth 6k he would say no why would u pay 6k for a car that is 26+ years old. However these trucks are not like a normal car. They are classics now!

Sounds alright to be honest,

Something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay. In your case £6k, it may not have been worth it, but it may have been but it's to late now, perhaps that should have been researched beforehand?

Selling it because you think you overpaid is stupid, you will make an instant loss if you did over pay.

Tell your partner to man up and just enjoy the thing, you got it now so go out and have some fun!

Oh and I meant to say yes you did over pay, if you OH wants to sell it then I will give him 2 grand cash ;)

Lol :D

Then the price you paid was worth it. Don't worry about it just have fun :)

Loads of people are talking them down at the moment especially nuggets on facebook.
One of my friends who works in a garage is doing it, by his own admission to try and get the prices down so he can afford one!

Ask yourself again in 30 years when its still pottering about. My series is near 50 years old and has no signs of being scrapped for another 50. Works out very cheap in the end. :D

Am i asking myself about the price or about being worried?

Looks aces....

Intrigued to see the interior pics, so will watch with baited breathe....

As all the above, forget the price, you were happy to part with the cash, you love the car...simples....

A sorted Deffie with a strong chassis and bodywork are worth it, you could pay a lot less, and then pay more for repairs.

We purchased a 110 for £4.5k in November and I have so far, replaced the master cylinder, clutch master and slave, ignition switch, suspension coils and shocks, rear wheel brake cylinders and now looking at the movement in the front prop sliding joint....a new front propshaft too.....

So I am already into this vehicle for £350-400 in the last 3 months.....not to say how much we have spent on the Ninety and the L322 in the last few months either!!

So a cheap motor could well turn out to be a lot more expensive than the purchase price on the one you have just aquired....sit back, hold on tight, and enjoy it!!

Just go and enjoy - try an off road training course, winch and recovery. Remember to wash down after too much mud.
Go green laneing (but no scratchy ones - yours looks too shiny)
Try a ford or too.
Oh -and the never ending list of things to do...

What are you going to call it / her / him ??

I rekon you paid a reasonable price. Not the cheapest but certainly not way over. Decent miles and decent chassis and interesting engine make it worth it.

I dont think it matters what you buy you can always find cheaper AFTER you have bought it.
The best thing about any older defender is its always going to appreciate in value, same as houses really, you need it you buy it job done.

My partner read all your messages last night, and I'm glad to say he's got some of his passion back and he's decided to keep her.
I'd just like to say thank you to you all for taking the time to answer my question it was greatly appreciated. X

I paid similar for mine a year ago, in that year I've replaced the entire chassis, rebuilt axle, replaced rad, intercooler, master and slave cylinder, welded exhaust up, new discs, .......i definitely over paid, but I honestly don't care, I have a vehicle for life, hopefully in 20 years, it'll work out cheap, whatever engine/box/body it has then!!

Enjoy!!! :)
