Hi... specs are as follow.
88 chassis
200tdi engine.
Running gear and axles are series 3
Range rover Diff ...

I have been advised that a p38 steering box is a good power steering upgrade. So i have sourced this. But can anyone one tell me what pump and pipes i will need and most important .. how do i fit it ???
I am really quite new to all this so an idiots guide would be good. .
Thanks in anticipation of your reply
Regards karl

the 200tdi runs the steering pump off a vbelt from the front crank damper, check you have the bracket on the engine too...

if you are looking at the engine from the front, it will be slung low to the right of the crank. Disco PAS pipes would probably work for you, there are so many disco's broken for parts... wouldn't cost much to find out.

have a look at 'Steve Parker Land Rover' website, he produces many engine conversion parts, I bought a power steering pipe extension kit from him...

If you PM me, I think it's called "start a conversation" on here and let me have your email address, I'll send you a pdf article on how to fit Range Rover power steering to a series.

Hi Extreedoc,
I'm currently on a full strip and rebuild om my wifes S3 88 onto a new Richards Chassis and was contemplating a P38 PAS installation.
I got Richards to add a mounting plate for the box, however it conflicts with the battery box stand. All pics I have seen have so far of installations have the battery tray removed from the chassis.
As you can see below I will need to cut out at a minimum one tray support compromising the galv if I go P38

I can't comment on this as I haven't done this job myself but will be happy to send you the article which covers the whole job with pictures. I have sent it to quite a few guys who were contemplating this conversion but I need your email, I can't post the article here for copyright reasons. Up to you...
John

Staying 2.25 petrol if I can, I do have a nice spare 200tdi knocking around if I ever need to re-engine one of the series.
