Hi, wondering anybody has tried a temporary repair until the bags have been replaced.. I have a small hole on an Airbag on rear offside, anybody tried it and what did they use?? I was thinking of using a motorcycle puncture repair kit on it, with rubber glue advice most welcome...

not on a temporary motorcycle repair kits, that you do at the roadside you have you push a rubber bung with glue on it. Then inflate to i.e 42 psi.. Cut the protruding end off job done.. However this is not a tyre.. Plus what psi is in the airbag??

its futile as the bag flexes and inflates/deflates more than a tyre ever would. you can try it for nothing tho!

From memory it takes around 80psi to start lifting the car off the bumpstops. But what the pressure gets too when the car is at height, valve closed and you hit a bump......
Stop being a tight arse and put a SET of bags on it.(If its done more than about 90k the compressor and height sensors will all be sha--ed too.)
The rest of it is reliable apart from random valve block drive pack failure.

I Know, I Know.. looking at prices now... Island 4x4 came recomended. [ ZR1200 ].. not sure if you get the O rings tho £229.00 inc del, £10: 00 for the clips... cant see the O rings for sale??

Everything I've read regarding the EAS system is that any components used in repairs or mods should be rated to at least 150psi! This is the figure I've worked to in adding an air take-off point.

'O' rings are included/part of the airbag assemblies...I can't see any way of repairing an airbag, apart from replacement...

BTW.. The Air Compressor.. How noisey should it be?? I can hear my quite clearly when i am driving..

Cheers, John, i have a mate that knows a man at LR.. Looking at prices,. How do your Dunlops bags perform??

I doubt that you can hear the air compressor running, it's probably the ABS pump you can hear.

Dunlop airbags are standard Land Rover fitted parts, just without Land Rover/Stealers profit

The ride seems a little bit firmer with the new bags fitted, but considering the old bags were cracked and porous that doesn't surpise me.

I don't think that unless the vehicle is being used "very seriously off road", there's any advantage in Arnott airbags.

Its a comfortable feeling knowing that the airbags are in good condition and your not going to have any problems, there now't like a burst airbag with a 3 ton trailer on the hook....

Except for the lifetime warrenty perhaps?:D Got my Gen 2's for not alot more than OEM:D:D:D

Why do you doubt it? I can clearly hear mine - it's a different sound to the abs pump.

I hear that replacing the rubber mounts on the compressor will quiet it down. Or fix the leaky air bag!

I agree Gen 2's aren't a lot more than OEM, but theres always a get out clause in warranties, usually fair wear and tear.....so what are you going claim in 15 years time when the bag goes bang after being worn though and cracked???

Copied from Arnott's web site:

What is your warranty on parts?
Some parts have lifetime warranty while others have one year. The warranty is non transferable. If a part is defective we will either replace or repair that part, as long as it is in the warranty period and proof of purchase is available. We do not offer a warranty to commercial vehicles. Improper use or installation is not a manufacturer's defect. Parts returned unused are subject to a 20% restock fee.

Good luck in years to come....;)....

I can hear mine when the engines not running just before starting, not when its running but maybe because its an oiler!!!.....

The pressure switch stops the compressor at 10Bar,so your air take off point wont see any more than that. The pressure in the springs and lines back to the valve block will go above this when the car hits a bump, but I've never put a test gauge in a spring line to check what sort of shock pressure it gets to.
BTW,be careful using too much air from the system, the standard Thomas compressor is no more than adequate to keep the EAS going,so unless you upgrade it blowing up tyres etc is not a good idea.
